RFID and IoT technology 'No Need'
A Study on Electric Rice Cooker, Smart Farm, etc.
"Endless innovation"
In Incheon, there is a founder who developed a "Smart Forklift" management system based on the IoT (Internet of Things), which symbolizes the fourth industrial revolution. Seungwon Lee, 39, CEO of 4STEC (4STEC), who has an office at Inha Dream Center, a start-up childcare center at Inha University, is the main character.
Based on RFID (Electronic Tag) automatic recognition technology, this system can increase the usability of forklifts and prevent human accidents. It can check information of pallets or products with RFID tags in real time by mounting RFID (Wireless Recognition) system on forklifts.
Control rooms and forklift workers will utilize this information to improve work efficiency and reduce logistics costs. In addition, it detects workers near forklift trucks by attaching tags to safety helmets and other items to prevent accidents.
"There are endless fields where RFID and IoT technologies can be applied," CEO Lee said. "Based on the two technologies, we provide management systems such as records, supplies, and inscriptions or storage media that require security."
It has been growing every year with RFID middleware 'U-STAR' and mobile server-type middleware 'U-WARE', 'SMART RFID' that integrates functions of both products, and 'SMART IoT' which is converged IoT middleware.
Lee, a native of Incheon, founded the company in October 2013. Since then, the company has grown its business with the help of Talent University and Inha University's Startup and Child Care Center. Recently, he received support for commercialization of startup items at Incheon National University.
"I've always dreamed of starting a business. I decided to start a business in cooperation with my former co-worker, the current head of the research center (Kim Byung-kwon)." (Laughter)
CEO Lee is currently working on research and development that combines the latest technologies such as IoT with electric pressure rice cookers sold in the market so that they can operate rice cookers with smartphones. It is also working with bio and big data analysis companies to collect and analyze information such as soil and microorganisms to create an optimal crop cultivation environment.
CEO Lee said, "4STEC is determined to become a company that gives trust and impression based on 4S of Smart, Security, SERVICE, and SCREEN. We will continue to find new values in line with the information age through constant innovation."
