Korean startups are jumping into the front line of overseas startups. KOTRA (President Kim Jae-hong) announced that it will send domestic startups to "SLUSH 2015" to be held in Helsinki, Finland from the 9th to 14th (local time) to support Korean startups to enter the overseas market through their participation in the global startup ecosystem.
Slush, which attracts 10,000 participants and more than 1,000 startups every year, has been held since 2008 as Europe's largest startup conference where startups and promising investors from around the world gather in one place, the largest ever this year. Finland, the venue of the event, is Europe's top startup advanced country, and due to Nokia's decline in the past, many engineers have been building the world's best startup ecosystem.
KOTRA will participate in the conference by selecting 24 startups in Korea along with the Gyeonggi Small and Medium Business Support Center (CEO Yoon Jong-il) and the Incheon Information Industry Promotion Agency (Director Kim Sang-ryong). Participating companies in the Korean Pavilion have excellent technology in future food fields such as B2B software, clean-tech, games, life sciences, and health, and will participate in promotional showcases and 1:1 investment consultations to receive feedback from investors and global company executives.
Finestory, a Korean company participating in the Korean Pavilion, was selected as the Top 5 in the "Smart Growth 4th" organized by KOTRA as its own online travel platform, and also emerged as a promising startup at the "Korean Startup Summit NYC" held in New York in October this year.
Eye-sharing Soft, which introduced anti-missing services, is also actively participating in attracting investment by participating in "Korea-Japan Economic Exchange Daejeon - Korea-Japan Startup Pitching," and the dispatch is expected to spur the global start-up market.
In addition, many start-up celebrities from all over the world will share the world's best start-up issues and know-how with Nikla Zenstrom, CEO of Skype, Ika Paanen, CEO of Clash of Clan, and Nikla Ostberg, CEO of Yogiyo's parent company.
Kwon Joong-hun, head of KOTRA's Export Enterprise Support Office, said, "This dispatch is a great opportunity for Korean startups who have no experience in overseas markets to meet global startups and investors to share know-how and receive 1:1 mentoring."
